Social Contribution Policy

in order to contribute to society with education, research and development activities, Gazi University Central Library provides all undergraduate, graduate, doctoral students and academic staff with the consultancy support they need for their researches; and aims to increase the scientific and technological research competence and social contribution of the University through the provision of the necessary information resources and the trainings it provides.

The most important community service practice of the library is the services provided by the Visually Impaired Unit, which was established to support the education and research activities of the visually impaired. Scanning the resources in the library collection into electronic form, turning them into a printed book using a Braille printer, and vocalising them to convert them into listenable format are some of the Unit's services.

With the aim of supporting the education and research activities as well as meeting the cultural and artistic needs  of all students who are members of Gazi University, the Central Library displays films three days a week in its conference hall.  This way, the cultural and artistic development of students who are unable to participate in artistic activities for various reasons is supported. The use of materials (CD, DVD, CD of books, etc.) in the Audiovisual Materials Unit also provides support in this area.

The basic values on which the social contribution policy of the Central Library is based are as follows:

The library shapes its services with the awareness that social contribution is a responsibility.

The library works in cooperation with its stakeholders to provide all its members with the support they need.

The library accepts the fact that the quality and user satisfaction in its services directly affect the institution.

The library tries to add value directly and indirectly to society and to the quality of life with the activities it carries out.

Outputs gained from the use of information such as publications, patents, trained workforce, etc.  contribute to the country's economy and therefore to social development.
