Areas for Improvement

  • The first step towards improvement of the library was realized when the manual transactions started to be carried out through the automation system since 1999.
  • The transition from the old library building of 2000 m² to the new building of 11.000 m² took place in 2004.
  • The local automation system used in the Library was switched to the international integrated automation system in 2010; In 2018, the system was upgraded to a higher version.
  • The Library, which has been serving between 08:30 – 19:00 on weekdays, 10:00 – 18:00 on Saturdays and 11:00 – 16:00 on Sundays until 2014, has started to provide 24/7 uninterrupted service since 2014.
  • One more Self-Check, which is an individual lending/returning device, two of which are used extensively in the Library, has been purchased and services have been provided more quickly.
  • In order to ensure control, tracking receipts have been started to be issued from Self-Check for books returned by users.
  • The individual study rooms (karel) reserved for faculty members and doctoral students are reserved through the automation system with the reservation program created, so that the carrels are used more actively and by more people.
  • In 2019, students can also proxy by the Information Technologies Department; In this way, all publications in the electronic environment of the Library were made accessible to academic staff and all undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students.
  • After the library renovation, the seating capacity was increased from 1824 to 2184 in 2020.
  • Within the scope of the Accessible University, one of the elevators in the Library building has been expanded to accommodate all wheelchairs; A palpable walking surface has been laid on the entire floor.
  • In order to illuminate the library building more effectively, a LED system was introduced.
  • In order to ensure the satisfaction of the users, the sewer infrastructure and heating / cooling systems were renewed.
  • In 2021, an Audio / Scan Book Form has been added to the Library web page so that visually impaired users can notify the Library of the books they want to be voiced / scanned.
  • In order for the library's wireless internet network to work more efficiently and quickly, the infrastructure was improved by increasing the technical equipment with the support of the Information Technologies Department.
  • In order to develop the library collection and to determine the current course books, an official letter was sent to the faculties and their publication requests were requested.
  • Library social media accounts were reactivated, and current and educational announcements began to be published regularly.
  • In line with the developing technology and changing user demands, training presentations have started to be given online; For groups who want face-to-face training, trainings with broad participation have begun to be organized in the Library conference hall.
  • In order to measure user satisfaction and to determine our improvement areas, a student satisfaction survey has started to be implemented.
  • The library web page has been transitioned to the new interface.
