Visually Impaired Unit
Gazi University Central Library Visually Impaired Unit, which opened on 12th January of 2007, provides access to information to visually impaired users by taking advantage of the facilities provided by library and information technologies.
This section collection includes 143 printed books written in braille alphabet, 1320 audiobooks and 2600 scanned books. It is included in the collection in English / Turkish, Turkish / English dictionaries and novels. In this section, there are 2 computers, 2 scanners, 1 Braille printer, 1 pearl and 1 cassette player.
Visually Impaired students can carry out their research by using the internet with a screen reading program. In addition, they can benefit from any book they want from the library with the help of a scanner and screen reading program. Users can listen to audiobook cassettes and their own cassettes in this section; they can get lecture notes and textbooks from the printer as Braille printing using scanners, or scanned documents can be saved to users' flash drives.
In addition, the desired books are reproduced in audio format with the joint project carried out with the students in this section.
